De bal raakt een netpost, wat dan?
Indien dit gebeurt tijdens een opslag en de bal valt nog op de tafelhelft van de ontvanger, is dit een let en mag er opnieuw worden geserveerd. In elk ander geval is het een punt voor de ontvanger. (Handbook for match officials, 11.2.1: “The most common reason for a let is that the ball touches the net assembly while passing over it in service. Provided the service is good up to the point at which the ball touches the net, the rally is a let if the ball then touches correctly the receiver’s court or if it is obstructed by the receiving player or pair; if it does not touch the correct court at all and is not obstructed, the receiver scores a point.”)
Indien dit gebeurt in een rally, wordt dit als een “netbal” beschouwd en als dusdanig behandeld: er wordt gewoon verder gespeeld tot één van beide speler een punt heeft gemaakt. Immers, de netcontrstuctie bestaat uit: het net, de netophanging en de netposten, met inbegrip van de klemmen waarmee ze aan de tafel zijn vastgemaakt (ITTF Handbook 2012-13, 2.02.01: “The net assembly shall consist of the net, its suspension and the supporting posts, including the clamps attaching them to the table.”)
